On Friday, October 15th, our dental office hosted a Freedom Day USA dental care event, offering free services to Veterans. During the day, over a dozen men and women were treated with exams, cleanings, x-rays, extractions and fillings, totaling almost $15,000 in donated dental care. Office manager, Gail Pierce said “It’s a great feeling to give a little something back to those who’ve given so much to ensure our freedom.” It was Dr. Carl Treyz’s first time participating in Freedom Day USA. “It was an unforgettable day performing dentistry for these brave veterans. Their appreciation and smiling faces are something that will stick with me for many years to come.” Dr. Rask’s assistant, Missy Maclure looks forward to Freedom Day every year. “We meet the nicest people with such interesting stories. It makes you appreciate what our military does for our country.” Everyone at the office put in a hard day’s work and what makes it more challenging is not knowing what you will be doing for some of these patients until they are in the chair. Despite this, assistant Yeni Gonzalez said it gave her “a boost of happiness” that day. To find out more about Freedom Day USA or to participate next year, go to www.freedomdayusa.org.
