  • Florida Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy

On  March 24th and 25th, the Florida Dental Association held it’s 3rd annual “Mission of Mercy” dental event offering free dental care to the needy and under-served.  The event was held at Woodham Middle School in Pensacola, Florida, where almost 2,000 patients were treated totaling over $1.4 million dollars in free dental care.  Volunteer dentists, assistants, hygienists and office staff came from all over the state to help with the logistics of the event, triage and educate patients, and provide dental care raging from cleanings and fillings to extractions and dentures.  The Mission of Mercy had 100 dental chairs set up in the school gymnasium, equipped with water, suction and handpieces.   Dr. Brian Rask, traveled there to volunteer along with some of his other University of Florida dental school colleagues.  “It was a very rewarding experience to be able to use your profession to give back to those in need in your home state. The patients were so appreciative and the volunteers were wonderful to work with.”
