COVID-19 Office Protocols for Patients

We hope this message finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.  As we re-open our practice, we want to notify you of new procedural protocols and safety measures that have been put in place to ensure the well-being of our patients, staff, and those with whom they come in contact.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. Our office adheres to recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.  In addition to our normal infection control procedures, we are disinfecting the office with a Clorox Total 360 electrostatic sprayer, we have medical grade air purifiers in all operatories, we have additional suction devices to minimize aerosols while drilling, and we will be wearing N95 masks, face shields, hair caps and protective gowns.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We have made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

  • We ask that you call us from your car when you arrive to check in.  We will let you know if we are ready for you, or will call you back when to enter the office.  If you do elect to wait in the waiting room, please wear a mask and stay six feet apart from others.  We ask that you do not bring other people with you to your appointment or have them wait in the car if you do.
  • Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive at the office.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office at the reception desk and in other places throughout the office if needed.
  • We will also take your temperature at the front desk.  Anyone with a temp over 100.4 degrees will not be treated and referred to their physician.
  • You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, books or coffee/water station, as we want to limit contact points to clean and disinfect.  Please feel free to bring your own reading material or beverage if you desire.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
  • We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
  • Due to the additional PPE that our staff is wearing, we have lowered the temperature of our office, so please bring a sweater or jacket if needed.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment or ask questions, please call our office at 954-782-1864 or visit our website at www.drbrianrask.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.
